I am one of the huge fans of Audible. I use its mobile app almost on a daily basis to listen to audiobooks while on the go. As you probably know Audible is a subscription based service. You pay a small monthly fee to access Audible’s library and get discounts on a wide variety of audiobooks. However, if you would rather use a free service, Librivox is a very good option to consider.
Librivox offers tons of free public domain audiobooks that are read by volunteers from all around the globe. You can listen to LibriVox audiobooks on both the web and mobile devices. You can use the site’s built-in search functionality to look for specific audiobooks or use filters to search for works by author, title, or genre/subject. You can also use the Language filter to search for audiobooks written in French, Arabic, Spanish and several other languages.
Audiobooks offered on LibriVox are audio versions of books that are in the public domain and most of these books are very old. If you are looking for new books you will be better off using a subscription based audiobook’s hosting platform such as Scribd or Audible.
Also note that “LibriVox recordings are Public Domain in the USA. If you are not in the USA, please verify the copyright status of these works in your own country before downloading, otherwise you may be violating copyright laws.”
