Mathway is a great free online math calculator that helps students with their math problems. With a single click, students can access solutions to complex math problems and view step by step explanations. This is a great way for students to learn not only the solution but, more importantly, learn about the process that led to that solution.
However, Mathway, like all other math solver apps, is only educationally beneficial when students use it in appropriate ways. It should be used as the last resource when students have done their best to solve their math problems independently.
Mathway covers a wide variety of math topics including:
- “Basic Math/Pre-Algebra (arithmetic, integers, fractions, decimal numbers, roots, factors, and more…)
- Algebra (linear equations/inequalities, quadratic equations/inequalities, absolute equations/inequalities, systems of equations, logarithms, functions, matrices, graphing, and more…)
- Trigonometry/Precalculus (trigonometric functions, identities, conic sections, vectors, matrices, complex numbers, sequences and series, and more…)
- Calculus (limits, derivatives, integrals, and more…)
- Statistics (probability, permutations, combinations, and more…)”.

They can also use the Popular Problems column on the right for quick access to examples.
