Today’s post features another interesting resource packed full of educational resources to use in your instruction. Facing History is a platform that offers a wide variety of pedagogic materials to help students and teachers ‘think critically about pivotal moments in history’. The focus of these materials cover issues related to racism, antisemitism, prejudice, justice and human rights, bullying and ostracism, global immigration, democracy and civic engagement, mass violence, the Holocaust, and many more. The goal of Facing History is to help “students connect choices made in the past to those they will confront in their own lives”.
The Educator Resources section in Facing History includes teaching strategies to use in remote, hybrid or in-person learning environments. It also features a wide variety of educational resources to incorporate in your teaching “from primary sources and streaming videos to teaching strategies, lesson plans, and full units.”
There is also a section that features numerous teaching resources to help teachers and students develop nuanced understanding of the ongoing pandemic and how it connects to history. Additionally, there are readings and resources to use in class to engage students in discussions around the outbreak of the current pandemic “and to explore questions about community, responsibility, decision-making and upstanding that are relevant in this moment.”
